It is our pleasure to lead free tours for schools, seniors, temples and churches, teacher groups and more. Three times a year—fall, spring and summer--Brookline Adult Education offers our tour: find us at brooklineadult.org. Finally, if you and a group of 5 or more of your friends or family would like a tour, I'm ready to take you at no cost. Just email me at [email protected] and suggest a few possible times.
This lively 90-minute tour visits three sites to tell tell the history and some stories of slavery and freedom. Beginning at Town Hall, participants look for evidence of slavery that is hidden in plain sight. The walk continues to an Underground Railroad house to hear the story of a person sheltered here after a daring escape to freedom. The walk ends with stories and a question at the Old Burying Ground on Walnut St. Please note that the walk invites everyone who is 12 yrs old or older. While the walk isn’t strenuous, participants can easily drive the distances from Town Hall to the 2 sites on Walnut Street where parking is usually easily found on site or across the street.
